Golden Globes

Ricky Gervais hosts, yhadda yhadda yhadda...........now to the best and worst (and most dangerous) of the Golden Globes!

Lea Michele! As a fellow "Gleek", I was so glad that Glee won three Golden Globes (Chris Colfer-Kurt, Jane Lynch-Sue Sylvester, and Best TV Show) and they all looked beautiful! Lea looked perfectly peachy in a pink gown (by Oscar de la Renta) with lots of girly quirks including lots of pulls and what-should-I-call-them ruffles (?) along the shoulder and creating a train through the back. Her makeup was amazingly done and her hair was perfect- not to mention her jewelry! She looked amazing! Gleeks jumped for joy!

Olivia Wilde was G.O.R.G.E.O.U.S! She looked amazing in a full chocolate-colored bell gown by Marchesa. She claimed that her dress was actually extremely comfortable... but if you owned a dress that beautiful and elegant, it must have a price! Anyways, her makeup matched perfectly with the creamy chocolate color of the dress! I would say she was a TOTAL TEN!

Lots of people and critics are in LOVE with Eva Longoria's sexy and long black (backless) dress, but I actually don't like it. The tightness pulls on her boobs too much so they look like their about to burst (not a good thing!) and the weird flowy wrap-around train going on doesn't work (plus, she tripped over it TWICE as she walked onto the stage!) The dress was made by Zac Posen.....who is usually pretty cute but I just didn't like this very much.... at all.

Was Britney Spears at the Golden Globes? Nope, but January Jones was! This Mad Men star looked like a Western flapper dancer with a boob strap..... yes, let's call it a boob strap. This Versace fiery red disaster came with blonde curls and plentiful matching red lip-stick. January Jones got jerked....

One of my favorite actresses (after seeing Zombieland, she has to be your favorite!), Emma Stone looked super sexy in a sleek peach colored form fitting dress from the Calvin Klein Collection.(She looked like Barbie finally did "it".) Emma Stone would be a total knockout if she didn't dye her amazing auburn hair to a flakey blonde color. Either way, Emma Stone looked hot!

That's probably the highs and whoa.... the lows. Additional women who looked really pretty and REALLY bad also include: Anne Hathaway in a backless Armani (GOOD), Michelle Williams in a "flower power" Valentino (BAD), Helena Bonham Carter in a scary Vivenne Westwood (BAD! DIDN'T THEY STOP FILMING HARRY POTTER?!), Jennifer Lopez in a weird smock from Zuhair Murad (BAD), Halle Berry in Nina Ricci..... Is she stripping or wearing a bathing-suit with a sarong? (BAD), and dear old Jennifer Love Hewitt in what they are calling the "Ice Princess" by Romona Caveza (BAD). So as you can see.... there were more bad then beautiful, but there was the fair share of "so-so's"........ I just can't wait until the Oscars!

Classic is Timeless

Who remembers the 50s? The 60s? Let's not reminisce on the 70s...
The classic is being reinvented... again.
There's a philosophy saying that history always repeats itself- this is the same thing with trends in fashion. The first piece of clothing (probably like a loincloth or something, har-har) has been re-done so many times its not the same thing anymore. Fashion and history are repeating their selves again, and this time there's going to be someone to blog about it :D
The 50s... Jackie O ring a bell? The age of class and elegance rolled up into modern day wear. Pleated bell skirts, caps for women, dainty high-heels and the cardigan craze! The 50s was the founder of it all! If it wasn't for the 50s, then a lot of modern day elegant designs wouldn't be circulating the runway. White, wristlet gloves could be found in this period as well, these aren't as popular anymore but still fun for dress-up! :P

And then the 60s! A total 360 happened here! Total opposites collide in less than twenty years. The classy goes to the pop scene. The abstract and the punk. As much as I love the 50s, I think I belong in the 60s. The fun, flirty styles mixed with edgy and modern. 60s icons include: Jackie Kennedy (again), Twiggy (famous-now Botoxed-model), Edie Sedgwick (actress, model, heiress), and Audrey Hepburn (if you don't know who Audrey Hepburn is, I may have to kill you). Just to name a few. The 60s was a mix of old and new. The women born before the 60s kept the classic 50s, while younger women and models worked the modern 60s look.

What do you like better, the sixties or the fifties?
PS: Sorry if the font on the sixties is blue... I don't know what happened there...and if it is regular font then just pass me as crazy...

Best Dressed People's Choice Awards!

PEOPLE'S CHOICE AWARDS!!!
Favorites:
Selena Gomez's TWO really beautiful dresses (open kneed floral pattern and pink mini)... except somebody please tell her that she's going to look like a Kardashian if she keeps up that awful spray tan! And besides, didn't she get any color while macking on Justin Bieber on his personal yacht...?
Taylor Swift looking as classy and elegant as always. And as a total sucker for classy dressing, she scored major brownie points with moi. She wore a pink cross mini dress and did her hair (or her stylist did....) amazingly in that perfect chignon-thing she can pull off so perfectly!
Kim Kardashian's dress was pretty enough.... but her uber push-up bra totally stole the show. Her jewlery went well with the outfit so at least the women who dress her have a little taste. Not loving the half Bump-It with extreme bangs hair-do. So not my favorite but if she worked a little LESS, she maybe would have looked good and not trashy for once in her life!
Mila Kunis looked pretty- her dress was not my favorite but her makeup was pretty and fresh-faced. Even though she was wearing LOTS of eye makeup (and would have looked even better minus some of that), she still had a nice glow to her.
Katy Perry scored MAJOR confidence credits! Her fairy-princess dress was a total score. However, I wonder if Katy every thinks, Maybe I'm trying too hard and over doing it... Maybe I should just look PRETTY for once in my life? Hmmm.... If I (speaking as me now) had that much pretty, I would TOTALLY use it to my advantage! It's the same deal Lady Gaga! They have the pretty factor (well, Gaga does if she tries and doesn't dye her hair ORANGE again!!!), so why don't they USE it?!
And unfortunately, Lucy Hale didn't look that beeyootiful :( I was expecting her looking pretty and gorgeous and stunning as usual but I was sad when I saw her pukey looking golden dress. Aww, sob sob.
