Spring is Spring-ing...?

*Ignore the title...*

So I'm SUPER excited for spring! I cannot wait for the trends and the styles and everything else that has to do with warm weather in this gross slush. But I'm being optimistic, yesterday was a very sunny afternoon and the groundhog saw his shadow (I think) so that means there will be a quicker spring! Yay! Now back to some trends (to get you ahead of your fashion "It-Girl" friends, show her who can rock Spring while she's still wearing grey sweaters! Hahaha!!)

1. Feeling the Floraaaal
Floral dresses and shirts and "blooming" everywhere! This also comes in handy with another trend, pattern play.

2. Long Dresses/Flowy-Blowy Skirts
If you own a bohemian chic Mary-Kate Olsen skirt, it's time to pull it out. Pair your peasant skirt with chunky jewels and four inch gladiator heels. This random but some-how specifically cute trend is manageable and the new It style.

3. True Colors.... not by Cyndi Lauper. Bold colors and color miss-matching are popping up on the runway and style hit lists everywhere....... however there are also the designers (Alexander Wang ring a bell?) trying to pull back their masculine minimalistic look from last year back again. The white-washed and drab runways were chic, granted, but I'm more for the pop, lock, and show of the coloring book!

4. Damn... it's denim! Denim (aka jeans, for those not as "with it") is everywhere random. In the dinosaur days, jean was worn as bell-bottoms and jackets with cuffs. The jackets have come back in style but I refuse to buy a pair of bell bottoms/boot legs. But now, jean shorts with sweaters and knee socks and high-heels are chic and hot (as Sarah Hyland rocks in TeenVogue February issue). Jeans are my life.... and now I can wear them with knee socks and sweaters?! YES!

5. Blouses/Flash Dance Love
I wrote about Flash Dance the movie, so watch it! Now flash dance inspired blouses and tops are making a statement on the runway! Yes! I don't have to DIY my own anymore! :D This is maybe my all time FAVORITE trend for Spring 2011!

*Since I could not find a god picture of this trend... I'm posting a picture of an adorable Marc Jacobs dress that I fell in love with when I saw it first in the new Marc Jacobs campaign*

Lovely in Lilly

Lilly Pulitzer's new catalog was just mailed.....

I usually give it to my mother and pass the floral prints for greys and blacks. But since I am eagerly awaiting the moment I can wear shorts, skirts without tights, and T-shirts without sweaters, I cracked open the over-sized catalog and was quite surprised.

Granted, there was the over-load of flouncy florals and silky pastels, but this year they broke the perfect little girl status quo and heated it up by whiting out. Lilly had a whole section dedicated to white dresses filled with vintage looking lace eyelet and bows and tunics..... I kinda fell in love.

In addition to my passion for white (not being racist :), I loved a few silk, over-sized tunics and backless dresses with long sleeves. I found myself in love yet again with this whole style and ended up ordering a white lace dress and a pink and green tunic styled dress..... yeaaah I liked the catalog a lot you could say.
