A Little Thing Called Envy

I have been putting together a list of all the things I want very badly at the moment. But until I make enough babysitting and working money, all I can do is gaze at them, drooling. Just kidding, but seriously. Some of them are dumb little things I just think would make my life a whole lot better, and some others are great "fashion investments and staples" that I'll have for a while... I hope.

1. Clinique Chubby Stick: $16.00
2. Dolce&Gabbana Luminous Cheek Tint (in Rosebud): $44.00
3. Maybelline Baby Lips: $2.97

4. Nixon watch: from $100.00 to $300.00
(these are my three favorite watches)

5. Red Canvas "Original" TOMS: $44.00

6. Ray Bans Clubmasters (in tortoise shell): $144.95 (at Sunglass Hut)

7. Nixon Clock Pendant: $100.00

Culture Shock

The best dreams for me are when I do something drastic or I say something completely honest and just a little bit bitchy. But the best part of it all is when everything I say, comes out perfectly phrased, honest but not too mean, and reminds me of a movie.

I think everybody in the whole world will agree that the best moments, are the ones that look like they came straight out of a movie.

As much as we try to put together our thoughts and confront the evils in our lives, its always a little less like a movie and doesn't go exactly as planned.
We try our hardest to stage moments and put together scenes... we should just realize that movies are calculated and unrealistic (like really... Jake Ryan in real life would not have the guts to wait outside a church just waiting for you, Samantha Baker, to come out behind the bride in your glitzy pink bridesmaids dress... and who ever told Jake which church!? huh!?)....
So basically I'm being the Grinch who pops your unrealistic but fantastical bubble of unreality in your head and screaming, "GET OVER IT!"

But then again, there's no harm done in dreaming a little...

Birthday cake and hangover daze both from Sixteen Candles.
Most realistic prom scene ever from Napoleon Dynamite. Classic 'zombie' dancing and awkward eye contact... never gets old.

And the most UNrealistic prom scene from High School Musical 3... I feel like our generation has failed itself... Telling your grandchildren to watch HSM to see what the 2000s was like is almost as bad as your eyes bleeding...

The perfect photo of Cher from Clueless. I hated this movie the first time I saw it.. now I love it. Expecially the clothes... expecially Muffy.

Amazingly unrealistic... but possibly probable... disaster looks from Confessions of a Teenage Drama Queen and MTV's tv show Awkward.

The suicide explosion with Winnona Ryder and Christian Slater, the Heathers and Veronica, and the Heathers title all from (wouldn't you know it) Heathers.

The costume Homecoming in Never Been Kissed (worst movie on the planet... by the way).

And of course the famous Say Anything scene when John Cusack comes up to his forbidden love's window (re-created by the sexy as hell Penn Badgley in Easy A).

So... to be cheesy and quote John Lennon, "You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one. I hope that someday you will join us, and the world will live as one."

Dream on.

HACKED HACKED HACKED

haha JUST KIDDING. Have I fooled you? Well, this is a great way to introduce myself so let's just cut to the chase: I am the new Fashion Forecast guest blogger. Whoop whoop! My name is Katie, and I am one of Ella's most amazing, funny, compassionate, beautiful, intelligent, fashionable and clever friends in the entire universe ;)

So what will I be talking about? Well, just about everything, just like Ella does. And if you read my blog, you would know that I love the general topic of everything-ness.

To kick off my start as a guest blogger, I am posting my 5 non-clothing recent favorites:

1. Dark Hued Nail Polishes
- Dark nail polishes are no stranger in the beauty community and have made their debut year after year with a huge customer base. Some of my favorites include OPI's Lincoln Park After Dark and Ski Teal We Drop, Essie Dive Bar, Chanel Graphite, and many, many more.

2. Riding Boots
- I absolutely LOVELOVELOVE riding boots. I personally own two pairs: one from Steve Madden and one from Frye. The Steve Madden Linderr Boots (shown first below) are zip-up, super comfortable boots in a lighter chocolate brown color. My newer pair from Frye are the Melissa Button Riding Boots in Cognac. Not only have I worn them out every day since Friday, I've even worn them inside at least twice. That's how much I love them. Although riding boots can be a pretty big investment, once you have found "the ones" that in your gut you KNOW you can't live without, buy them. Yet, if the price isn't right, try searching some more. Finding the perfect pair of boots is totally worth it, and it is just like weight loss: if you don't reach your goal, you feel like much less than a million bucks.
3. Style by Lauren Conrad
- Yes, this favorite is a book *gasp! I bought Lauren Conrad's Style back in December of 2010, and I have probably re-read it 984359205345732 times. In fact, I am currently rereading it AGAIN. Ella, I know your not the biggest fan of Lauren Conrad, but this book is a MUST for any fashion addicts. She mentions her must-have basics for a perfect wardrobe and the best dresses to wear to different occasions, describes how to create the best winged eyeliner look, and even decodes the attire requirements for special occasions.

4. Philosophy's Purity Cleanser+Clarisonic Mia
- I know, I know, this is technically 2 things, but c'mon, give me a break. These two products are like two peas in a pod: they just aren't the same without one another. I have been washing my face twice a day, once in the morning and once before bed, everyday using my Clarisonic with Purity and let me tell you, my skin has never been better. Of course, this doesn't count the occasional breakout that I just have to rub at, but the rest of my skin is brighter, cleaner, and just altogether feels better. Plus, the Clarisonic Mia comes in a variety of colors!
5. New Music: BRITISH BOY BANDS
- Ella is going to laugh at me for posting this, but I have to mention this I JUST HAVE TO. Okay, compose yourself. One Direction. ONEDIRECTIONONEDIRECTIONONEDIRECTION. I have loveeeeeed the super hot, super talented, super amazing British boy band since August, when I discovered them on Youtube right before the "What Makes You Beautiful" video came out. I am obsessed. Absolutely, positively, completely OBSESSED. Harry Styles, marry me...?
And that's it! Sorry that this is super long, but I've got tons to say...well, actually I've got tons to write. I'm so excited to write again! Until then, please check out my brand new blog, "the connoisseur":
